Author: Fern Brodkin at publicity@gregsover.com
The Greg Sover Band will be competing in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN from January 16 – 20, 2018. The band will represent the Steel City Blues Society, which is based in Phoenixville, PA. The band won the blues society’s competition on September 29 of this year to earn the opportunity to compete in Memphis.
There will be a pep rally/fundraiser at The Twisted Tail in Philadelphia (509 S. 2nd Street) on Sunday, January 7, 2018 (3 pm - 5 pm). The event, which will precede the weekly blues jam, will be hosted by Mikey Junior and the Greg Sover Band will perform. The event is free, and there will be opportunities to contribute toward the band’s expenses for the trip to Memphis.
Copies of Jubilee, the follow-up EP to Sover’s highly acclaimed debut release Songs of a Renegade, will be available for sale at the fundraiser, prior to the official release event in February. Fans can also contribute at the band’s GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/gregsoverbandmemphis.
Immediately following this event is the first Twisted Tail Blues Jam of 2018, which is also hosted by Mikey Junior and features the Greg Sover Band’s bassist/producer Garry Lee in the Blues Jam House Band. The jam is also FREE and we encourage everyone to bring your dancing shoes and your axe to jam with the band.
2017 was the breakout year for the Greg Sover Band. Sover’s album Songs of a Renegade began to get airplay nationally and internationally on blues radio. The band also got great reviews in numerous national and international publications.
We encourage everyone to join the band on January 7th and give them a great send-off to Memphis. You can download SONGS OF A RENEGADE at gregsover.com/epk. JUBILEE will be available in early 2018. To receive a CD and promotional kit please contact Fern Brodkin at publicity@gregsover.com
