By a 7-1 vote, a resolution was passed banning gay conversion therapy - a controversial method of changing the sexual orientation of LGBTQ youth which has been denounced by a number of American psychological and medical organizations. Doylestown joins a small group of Pennsylvania towns which have enacted similar resolutions. Councilman Joe Flood was the lone member voting against the resolution, stating that the resolution was not necessary because of existing Borough anti-discrimination ordinances. Mr. Flood has come under extensive social media criticism for his vote. The ordinance was first recommended by Council President Det Ansinn in August.
